Further to my last email......My 2 year old has not slept a full night since born and my 4 year old didn't sleep through till he was 2 and a half so all in all I have been without a full nights sleep for 4 years now and my gums are really sore and I had a car accident last week (my car is written off), I have trouble making decisions and am very irritable. I can't seem to make a routine because I am so out of sorts and have to sleep during the day when my daughter naps which is so inconvenient. thanks for listening

I just read your answer for a baby that day naps and it seemed interesting. My daughter is 2 she sleeps great in the day for a couple of hours. At night she goes down easily enough between 7.30pm 8 and stays asleep until midnightish then she just wakes and wakes. I did your method of going in when she first wakes and get her back off but then she wakes a bit later and seems to be really agitated and tosses and turns and cries for a long time or if I leave the room she just comes out and into my room. I actually end up getting into bed with her because she shares a room with a 4 year old brother and 13 year old sister and I don't want her to wake them. I don't want her in my bed either so stay in there till she goes back to sleep which takes ages and I fall asleep in there which is very uncomfortable for me. I could really use your help....thanks

I just started your program 3 days ago. I'm having a lot of trouble with the daytime naps. My 7 month old cries and starts to fall asleep after about twenty minutes then her body kind of jolts her awake and she starts crying again. This goes on for an hour and the longest she will stay asleep is ten or fifteen minutes between cries. This has gone on for three days. She is doing okay for the bedtime routine, took an hour the first night, 30 mins the second, then for the third she cried for thirty minutes, fell asleep for 15, and woke up off and on again for another 30 minutes.

The naps are really painful for me because I sit there and she has huge tears and just wants me to hold her. I used to rock her or just lay down with her in my bed. She would snuggle and fall asleep with me. I really miss napping with her, but I also want her to learn to nap without me next to her all the time. Will this ever get better or will she only take 1-10 minute naps in between crying for the whole hour and ten minutes?

My 7 month old daughter has mastered falling asleep on her own in her own crib. I do nurse or bottler feed her before hand but i make sure she stays awake and when she goes into her crib she is awake. This is all well and good, but she will only stay asleep for 30 minute naps and the longest at night is 4 hours and then usually after that it is 1-2 hours. I was reading about the method of going into her bedroom when she is starting to stir and see if i can put her into the next phase of sleep. This was mentioned for nap times, can it work for night also?
My husband and I are really starting to feel the tired burn, so i can only imagine what Claire is feeling.
Thanks so much for your help

I AM HAVING THIS EXACT PROBLEM. MY DAUGHTER HAD REFLUX AND I THINK ORIGIONALLY SHE WAS IN PAIN THAT WOULD WAKE HER. NOW I DO BELIEVE IT HAS BECOME A HABIT. THIS IS BEEN THE MOST CHALLENGING PART OF HAVING AN INFANT. SHE IS 5 MONTHS OLD AND NAPS ARE A NIGHTMARE!!!
